HARTPLUS PARATRANSIT

​This service is transportation for people with disabilities. Persons are eligible for this service if they have physical, cognitive, emotional, visual or other disabilities that prevent them from using HART fixed route bus system, either permanently or under certain conditions.
  • Picks people up and drops them off at their destination
  • Takes them to an accessible bus stop

Bus service is fully accessible to people who use wheelchairs or motorized scooters. All buses have PA systems to announce stops and lighted stop-requested signs. HARTPlus services, available only where HART bus routes operate, are based solely on the applicant's functional ability to use HART buses, not disability alone.

HOW DO I APPLY?

A two-step process determines eligibility for HARTPlus services:
  • ​Completion of an application that is completed in advance
  • An in-person interview and functional evaluation, if necessary, to determine individual circumstances. (Transportation assistance is provided to the interview if necessary.)

Information provided by a social service agency or other professional regarding the applicant’s ability to use the bus may also be considered. This process takes as little as 21 days.

TIME ​AND ​FARES​​​​

HARTPlus services are available on the same days and at the same times as HART local fixed-route bus service. The HARTPlus fare structure is:

All HARTPlus services require reservations the day before service is desired. Please call 813-254-HART (the HARTinfo Line) or
813-626-9158 (TDD for the hearing impaired) during regular customer service hours to make a reservation.

HOLIDAY SUBSCRIPTION TRIPS

HARTPlus service is available on certain holidays, but subscription trips no longer operate during certain holidays.

HARTPlus and HARTFlex customers who wish to use HARTPlus and HARTFlex services on holidays must make a reservation through Customer Service 813-254-4278. HARTPlus and HARTFlex trips can be scheduled as early as three (3) days in advance of the holiday.

​​​​PARATRANSIT VISITOR STATUS

Individuals with disabilities visiting the Tampa area and interested in using paratransit service can fax their request to (813) 384-6281 or contact HART Customer Service at (813) 254-4278. Cash fare is $4.​


ADA ACCESSIBILITY COMMITTEE

Would you, or someone you know like to serve on HART's ADA Accessibility Committee?

The ADA Accessibility Committee serves HART in an advisory role to obtain input from the people with disabilities living in our community on the coordination of public transit throughout Hillsborough County.

  • Committee membership is voluntary and non-paid.
  • Members serve three-year terms
  • Members must be able to attend the quarterly meetings held at
    HART, 1201 E. 7th Avenue in Tampa, generally scheduled from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM.
  • All interested individuals must complete a Membership Application and be available foran interview.

HARTFLEX​

HARTFlex is a van service that operates in two areas in Hillsborough County: 

  • South County (Door-to-door within the zone; Reservations or walk-up service available)
  • East Fletcher (Currently fixed-route, walk-up service only)

  • HOW DO I BOOK A TRIP FOR HARTFLEX SOUTH COUNTY?

For guaranteed seat availability, reservations are encouraged. No standees are allowed. Reservations should be made from two hours to three days in advance of your trip. Alternate times will be suggested if the van is already booked.​​​​

To make a one-way or round-trip reservation, call 813-254-4278:
  • Monday - Friday
  • 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Customers who book a reservation and do not arrive for their trip or do not cancel their reservation at least two hours beforehand will be considered a no-show. Customers who receive four no-shows in any 30-day period will be suspended from HARTFlex reservations for two weeks. These customers may continue to use walk-up service where available.​​

Walk-up service is available by waiting at a designated HART bus stop, which are marked with a Flex decal. The driver will drop you off at any other designated HART stop along the route in the same direction. HARTFlex vans are now equipped with bike racks. F​olded bikes are welcome aboard. 

​Reservation service will be coming to other HARTFlex areas at a later date.​​

FARES

  • $1 per trip; same price for adults, seniors, persons with disabilities and youth
  • $2 for 1-Day Unlimited Ride farecard sold on the van
  • HART 1-Day and 31-Day Unlimited Ride farecards accepted
  • USF students ride FREE with valid student ID
